A hurricane is a wind event capable of speeds in excess of 150MPH . The winds can cover large areas damaging and destroying homes and businesses that are in their path. State and municipal governments have experience massive losses of life ,property and infrastructure. Because of these losses they have instituted building codes to minimize these losses. New regulations have been adopted to harden the structures. Opening (windows & doors) protection has been the focus of many of these codes. When a window or door breaks or fails, the wind causes the structures interior to become pressurized. This pressurization along with the lift from the winds blowing over the roof enables entire roof assemblies to lift off. When the pressure of wind presses against glass, And that glass breaks , sharp and jagged edges are projected towards the interior. These projectiles easily can have the same effect as a guillotine. Sliding doors are notorious for being sucked out of their tracks. Garage doors are easily blown out creating a massive gush of wind pressure to the interior of the structure. Even if they do not blow in (or out) they can be damaged to an inoperable state. This can cause the residences to have no viable transportation means for weeks or months.

The custom made bracket are made from stainless steel designed to offset loads evenly minimizing stress to the attaching anchors. Even if the side walk bolt becomes loose the design locks the bracket from coming loose from the anchor. This is much more secure than open eyebolts which can allow the straps to detach when the screen is stretched. These brackets are designed to easily go on over the sidewalk bolts and come off without un-strapping the buckles.
